On 22nd October Microsoft announced the launch of its next generation operating system Windows 7 and on the same day EACS held a launch event at The Møller Centre in Cambridge.
Around 100 attendees found out how Windows 7 provides a number of compelling innovations which make early adoption easily justifiable and had the opportunity to get hands on and use demonstration units.
Windows 7 comes in two versions: Windows 7 Professional for small and medium-sized businesses and Windows 7 Enterprise. An independent press survey showed that as many as 50 per cent of all small and medium-sized businesses running Windows are considering an upgrade to Windows 7 in the next 12 to 18 months.
Windows 7 Enterprise has seven extra features to address mid-market and enterprise needs. This includes DirectAccess, which offers seamless access to corporate networks and BranchCache, which decreases download times from remote servers.
