Business in the Community - ProHelp
EACS is a member of the Peterborough ProHelp group, part of Business in the Community.
Business in the Community is a business-led charity which works to encourage economic and social regeneration and support business in improving its positive impact on society.
Established in 1989 by Business in the Community, ProHelp has grown to a national network of over 1,000 professional firms operating through 40 local ProHelp groups across the UK. In the past year alone, ProHelp firms committed over £6m worth of professional advice and expertise free to local community groups and voluntary organisations that would not otherwise have access to these services.
How does ProHelp work?
Professional firms affiliate themselves to one of the 40 local ProHelp groups throughout the UK that meet regularly to respond to requests for help from community groups.
What are Professional Firms asked to do?
Members are asked to provide a specified amount of free professional support each year, support for community projects can be on a one-off basis through to longer-term partnerships.
Who benefits from ProHelp?
Any community based, not-for-profit group working locally to improve the social and economic regeneration of the local area can apply for support from ProHelp, but the benefits extend well beyond. See this Peterborough Evening Telegraph article for examples. Firms successfully use ProHelp to broaden the experience base of their staff and develop communication skills. ProHelp also presents a valuable opportunity for networking and building business contacts in voluntary and business sectors and raising local profile.
