IT projects usually introduce change of some sort or another. A project could just be a change to higher performance hardware, or it could result in wholesale change to processes and ways of working. It is a reality of life that change involves risk – success often depends on successfully planning and controlling work, in order to avoid risks actually happening. IT projects by their nature also tend to have dependencies – either lots of them, or large ones – sometimes both.
