Overnight Apple will be releasing their next major operating system upgrade. This will see the move from Catalina (10.15.7) to Big Sur (MacOS 11). This is a major change and Apple will do their best to encourage you to upgrade from day one. Past experience tells us that early adopters find they have unexpected results with applications not working or not performing as expected. This is especially an issue if you use slightly more niche software, which may take developers longer to catch up.
Our advice to all our customers would be to avoid being the early adopter, let others be that, and wait for at least two further upgrades by Apple before installing Big Sur on to your Mac. We would be looking for Apple to have released MacOS 11.2 (which would be possibly into next year) before we installed. Make sure the software you are using is supported before making the move. If in doubt, ask our advice.
