Before we go any further, this is a pause for thought.
This article will not enlighten you, provide you with the answer or even resolve any queries. It is aimed to help you get the grey matter turning so that any queries, questions or concerns can be raised with your eacs client manager who will be more than happy to talk you through what we can do to help.
We’ve been working from home for a long old time now – over 100 days now. We’ve seen software that is not up to the task struggle, we’ve wished we were back in the office (who’d have thought that would happen?!) and we’ve relished this newfound air quality being seen across the globe.
We’re getting out, we’re starting to see offices, warehouses, production lines and shops begin to open back up. Slowly but surely, we’re returning to the ‘new normal’.
Some of our customers are relishing this. Many are production, manufacturing and sales organisations that simply need to have ‘feet on the street’ to function or more importantly, make money.
When all but non-essential workers were sent home, we saw bandwidth issues, security scares, activity lapses and connectivity issues for companies that were not agile. These companies usually followed the classic format of all IT being on premise and thought that because a handful of users connected via VPN, everyone else could.
Now this storm has been weathered and people return to their places of work, the above issues that the eacs service desk helped work through and resolve will not be such a problem.
We now face a different challenge – what to do with your systems, your user devices, the way people have been working and how you can carry on keeping productivity and morale high as well as the profit churning.
Companies that have been agile (hosted services and servers, laptop/ tablet users etc) won’t have an issue. Some are even considering shutting offices so they can save on property costs as they have now seen that users can work from home.
