As part of a strategy to develop practical resources and support for the client and their teams eacs is the IT services provider. This organisation supports medical professionals both in the UK and overseas and provides training and information to approximately 50,000 members and their associates. It needed to provide its users a platform to discuss ideas and share information regarding improving patient care, clinical standards etc in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
eacs received the request late on Sunday night to assist with the rapid deployment of a secure, scalable, cloud-based Internet forum and associated mailing list management application.
Given their role in the wider UK response to the COVID-19 outbreak, eacs immediately created a project team with executive sponsorship by eacs Chief Technology Officer and assigned technical resources to begin the due diligence and planning discussions early the following morning. A Microsoft Azure-based solution architecture with Web Application security was agreed, along with an implementation plan and eacs began immediately to build the environment in conjunction with the clients own Architecture and Development teams.
By the end of day 1, the application and its underlying infrastructure and security layers had all been configured and testing had commenced.
Further, On day 2, an application specialist recommended to the client organisation to continue to work with eacs Technical Consultants to extend scope and access.
At the time of writing (day 3) the indications are that the forum is already being used extensively and eacs continue to support the client organisation to ensure the successful adoption of the solution.
Thanks eacs, great work. This stuff will make a difference to real patients
